Cinnamon & Cardamom Hot Chocolate
This is an incredibly thick and rich hot chocolate, perfectly balanced by the addition of cardamom & cinnamon which round out the flavours & make it feel a little more grown up.
Notes:
Chocolate:
If you don’t have any dark chocolate, feel free to use milk chocolate, but reduce the amount of sugar in the recipe by about 20g
You can skip the chocolate entirely if you don’t have any, the hot chocolate just won’t be as rich, though it will still thicken
Milk:
I like to use whole milk here, buy you can use any of your liking, including dairy alternatives
Serves: 2-3/ Time: 10 mins
Ingredients
600ml Milk of choice (I used whole)
50g Dark Chocolate (I used 70%)
2 tbsp/15g Cocoa Powder
1tbsp/10g Cornflour
3 tbsp/45g Granulated Sugar
1/4 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground cardamom
Method
- Mix together the cocoa powder, cornflour, sugar, salt, cinnamon & cardamom
- Add the milk and cocoa mixture to a small pot & whisk until well combined, and put on a medium-low heat
- After about 3 mins, add in the chocolate (chopped) and whisk again until smooth
- Let simmer for a further 3-4 mins, and stir every so often
- Once it starts to bubble and thicken, take off the heat
